M I S S I O N

Meredith Jenny created Kids Teaching Music in 2018 after meeting and talking with a mother whose daughter wanted to play piano, but they could not afford the lessons.  In that moment, Meredith was inspired to bridge the gap, using less expensive high school musicians, such as herself and her musically talented friends, to provide music lessons for all kids at affordable prices.

In addition to offering lessons, Kids Teaching Music, also offers support with practice time, because sometimes it’s just more fun to practice with a “big kid!”

Although originally launched to provide in-person lessons, Kids Teaching Music, moved to virtual instruction in 2020 due to COVID-19. In the spirit of helping the community, $5 from every lesson will be donated to the local food pantry. We utilize Zoom and other technologies…Kids Teaching Music believes you should not stop progressing in your music just because you have to stay home.

For those seeking lessons in a band or orchestra instrument that is not currently listed, please complete the form on the “Lesson Information” page and Meredith will attempt to connect you with a like-minded student musician that she personally knows to help your child enjoy the world of music!
Blow Them Away

My name is Meredith. I live in Glenview and am currently a Sophomore at Kent School in Kent, CT. I spent my freshman year at Glenbrook South High School.

As a freshman at GBS,  I played bassoon in the concert band and performed keyboard/acoustic/electric guitars in rock bands outside of school. As a sophomore at The Kent School in Kent, CT, I play clarinet in the concert band and perform in an acoustic guitar group. I also have the opportunity to study and perform piano on campus with a Grammy-award winning instructor.

Music is both a hobby and a passion. I started playing piano at age four, added clarinet at age nine, guitar at age ten, ukelele at age eleven, bass clarinet at age eleven and the bassoon at age fourteen. I have something called "perfect pitch" which means that I kind of see music notes the way other people see color (the best way to describe it).  My goal one day is to score movies, go into medicine or both!

I have played in the advanced band programs all through elementary and middle school. In middle school I played piano and guitar for the jazz band.  In addition, I have three gold medals in piano performance from the Northwestern University piano competitions.

I was inspired to offer affordable music lessons during a chance meeting with a mom whose daughter wanted to play piano, but they couldn't afford lessons. It felt like high school musicians could bridge the gap to give those kids access to affordable instruction or practice help.

I am available to teach or practice  piano, guitar and clarinet to elementary aged children.

If you are seeking lessons in any other band or orchestra instrument, please complete the form on the "lesson information" form on the next page. I will connect you to other like-minded student musicians at GBS to help your child enjoy the world of music!
