EmilyHello! My name is Emily McKenzie and I am a senior at New Trier High School. I started playing piano at age 10 and then switched to trumpet in 5th grade. I studied for 6 years with a professional trumpet player with the Count Basie Orchestra. My true love is playing jazz but I’ve also enjoyed playing in concert bands for the past 7 years. This school year I was first chair in Concert Band and will be in Symphonic Band (top band). I was in the Top Jazz band both junior and senior years.
I have worked as a lifeguard and sailing instructor at a youth camp in Michigan the past two years and love working with children. Outside of school, much of my time is spent in a pool on New Trier’s swim and water polo teams. I am available and looking forward to teaching trumpet lessons! |
